My story with MELT


I was introduced to the MELT Method around 10 years ago, when I was suffering with plantar fasciitis. Once I was out of the acute pain phase, a Pilates/MELT intructor showed me the MELT hand and foot treatments using the soft ball, and I was immediately hooked! I couldn't believe how it made not just my feet and hands feel, but my entire body. What was this magic?! I'd had countless visits with healthcare professionals, had shockwave therapy, acupuncture, you name it, I did it. And spent a lot of money in the process. Don't get me wrong, I had temporary relief, but the pain kept coming back. I was frustrated because I couldn't 'fix' it. 

 I also realised that my back felt less restricted, I was standing taller, my neck was freer, and my shoulders relaxed. The nagging headache I'd had all day had gone. It started a long journey of learning about fascia, how it interweaves every structure in our body, and how it stores emotion and traumatic events. I went on to learn myofascial release within my scope as a Pilates instructor, but I still felt something was missing. MELT has been that missing piece of the puzzle. It has enabled me to develop a self care programme, not just by rolling myself out like an ironing a shirt with a hard roller- causing pain to get out of pain is not how MELT works. We use soft foam rollers and balls, and there are dozens of sequences carried out in a specific order to rehydrate and release the connective tissue that is holding our 'stuck stress'.
